About MSDS

Mike started sailing and messing about in boats when he was 14, a late starter by today’s standards! He has vast experience covering many classes of dinghy. Following four years team racing at Loughborough he achieved a degree in engineering. He worked for several years as an engineer before deciding to pursue a career in the boat industry.

He was fortunate to work with Guy Winder, building wooden Fireballs before going alone as ‘Top Foils’, manufacturing Quality centreboards and rudders .The arrival of the RS200 coincided with Mikes involvement with LDC. Working as the RS Northern agent he has spent time in many of their modern dinghy range, and growing involvement led to a move to larger premises near Killinghall.

M.S.D.S repair wooden and G.R.P boats, Carbon masts and booms. Most types of rigging are stocked and supplied. The chandlery carries a large range of paint, rope, fittings, trailer and trolley spares, and sails and spars for many RS classes. They also hold spares for the vortex class.  The clothing department is well stocked with kit for all seasons.
